2 hours South of Epernay and only 1 hour from Chablis, Côte des Bar has fascinated many by the unique mineral style of its Champagne wines and the attitude of its winegrowers. Here in the lesser-known and authentic "south" there are no massive Champagne factories. Here it’s about the grower, the vigneron, the artisan and Vincent Couche is all the above. Vincent is a true perfectionist in his everyday actions in the vineyard and aims for nothing less than excellence. He is part of a growing group of talented rising stars in Champagne that are “not yet” famous but quickly making a name for himself.
He farms biodynamically (Demeter certified since 2008) his 13 hectares with 2 terroirs. In Buxeuil he has 10 hectares of mostly Pinot Noir on limestone-clay and marl-clay.Vincent replanted these vineyards with the advice of terroir specialist Claude Bourguignon (DRC, Dujac, Leflaive, Selosse, Dagueneau, Chave). Exposition is mostly South and West with steep slopes overlooking the Seine river. In Montgueux he has an additional 3 hectares of Chardonnay planted on Chalky soils
All of Vincent’s wines are fermented using only natural yeast, vinified in barrel and have low or no dosage.
